Nokia E61 hard reset

A few days I ago I picked up my old Nokia E61 and performed a hard reset. Very easy, just entering some codes. Very unlike the old way of pressing down this and that button and concurrently press and hold some key for 5 seconds and so on.

Oh, by the way the new Nokia E71 looks good. Too bad it comes with camera. ^^;

Upgrading HTC TyTN II to Windows Mobile 6.1

HTC finally released free WM6.1 upgrade for TyTN II, and I gave it a try yesterday night. The upgrade was quite fast and went quite smoothly. The Threaded SMS feature might take some time taking use to. Proceeded to reinstall applications, and some worked some didn't.

Ok Apps:

Not Ok Apps:
  • GPRS Monitor
  • Sprite Mobile Backup

The main reason I wanted to upgrade is that I read somewhere that WM6.1 supports encryption of entire device and not just storage card. I was very disappointed when I found out that it requires System Center Mobile Device Manager.

E-registration for travellers entering US without visas

Business Times - 03 Jun 2008

New rule will affect travellers from 27 countries, including Singapore.

WASHINGTON - Travellers who do not need visas to enter the United States will be required to register online with the US government at least three days before they visit, a security regulation set to begin next year.

Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff will announce the rule on Tuesday, according to a government official who asked not to be identified because the announcement had not yet been made.

The rule was first reported by the Financial Times on Monday.

Required online registration will begin in January and will be valid for a two-year period.

Those needing to register will be travellers from the 27 countries whose citizens are not required to obtain visas for US entry. The counties include those in most of western Europe as well as Andorra, Australia, Brunei, Japan, New Zealand and Singapore.

Eight other countries - the Czech Republic, Hungary and South Korea among them - are expected to be admitted to the visa waiver programme.

When the Homeland Security Department began discussing the online registration rule last year, European businesses worried that business travel could be impeded. -- AP
