One way to save space is to find those duplicate files on the storage media and remove them. I tried out both Easy Duplicate File Finder and DoubleKiller but they don't seem to support non-English languages like Japanese. CloneSpy works like a charm, though.
All three can be downloaded free-of-charge from their respective websites and run without installation.
